Humanities & Ethics

The vision of the Center for Medical Humanities & Ethics is to develop a unique program that will make a significant difference in the quality of medical education in the United States. The program emphasizes ethics and professionalism and encourages community service learning in clinics around San Antonio, in the coloniasof Laredo and Corpus Christi and in missions abroad, where medical students experience medicine as it is practiced in resource-poor environments.

Methodist Healthcare Ministries is a private, faith-based, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing medical and health-related human services to low-income families and the uninsured of South Texas. It is one-half owner of the Methodist Healthcare System. The mission of the organization is “Serving Humanity to Honor God” by improving the physical, mental and spiritual health of those least served in the Southwest Texas Conference area of The United Methodist Church.
